Athletes at yesterday’s Wolverhampton marathon enjoyed blue skies and sunshine as they limbered up ready for the events to begin. From the starting line on Park Road West, right through the race routes, supporters, passer bys and inhabitants of wolverhampton all came out to cheer on the participants. Better running weather couldn’t have been imagined, as the crisp clear morning offered perfect exercise conditions.

From around 50 children taking part in the mini marathon, to the mayor of Wolverhampton himself completing the cycling event, Carvers Marathon events truly brought out the best in local community spirit.
Thankfully it was a quiet day for those at St Johns Ambulance, but the toughness of the carvers marathon challange made the achievement all the better for the completing athletes.
Money raised both from the participant’s sponsorship, and by event organisors will go towards four very deserving charities: Samaritans Wolverhampton, Compton Hospice, Beacon Centre for the Blind and the Mayoral Charity Fund.
